What you need:
1 Chopped Banana
1 Cup of Diced Mango
1 Diced Carrot
1 Tsp Chia Seeds
1 Tsp of Turmeric or 2 Inches of Skinned and Chopped Turmeric Root
½ Tsp of Cinnamon
1 Inch of Chopped Ginger
1 Sachet Recogen
1 Tsp Honey (Optional)

Directions:
Thoroughly wash your fruit and vegetables before peeling and chopping.
Add all the ingredients to blender until smooth.
Stir in Recogen in smoothie.
Serve immediately for the best results.

Men need Yoga. The fact is that most of Yoga classes (and most of my Yoga therapy clients) are women. A study that examined the perceived benefits of Yoga discovered that many men have the idea that Yoga does is not aerobically challenging, too difficult, only flexible people will enjoy it and that it is mainly for women. The study also revealed that time-constraint was stated as a reason that many men do not consider to learn Yoga for Health.⁠

Many men (and women) are in full-time jobs with irregular hours. My husband is the best example of this - he is a pilot. Now I finally got him all to myself, no escaping the practise and he is enjoying it already. He even asked for it the other day - as opposed of me having to twist his arm to do the practise with me.⁠

So - in order for him to be compliant - I kept it simple and just gave him a 20 minute practise that contains easy-to-do-variations of Yoga poses and strengthens the major muscle groups, especially the back. The benefits are immediate and guess what? He broke into a  sweat. He is an avid badminton player, has reasonably strong cardio-vascular fitness but uses only certain groups of muscles and his knees have been suffering for some time already. Very typical of many males.⁠

More often than not the hips are seen as the weakest point of the body. This may be due to prolonged sitting. The weakness creates tightness in our hips as a protection response . The body dosen't  like being too stiff or too loose. Equlibrium  is what the body likes and this is what 'flow provides. Strength and Mobility are inseperable. Without adequate strength to support the joints, our nervous system will not want to grant us access to greater ranges of motion, it thinks we aren't strong enough. -

After a successful Live workout with my tribe it was time for deadlifts. Not pushing it at all with this stuff because it’s not a priority right now. Happy to just move 285 and 305 around for fun. 
Sets 1-3 were paired up with rope rows. ➡️CHECK OUT THE FIRST set or rows. I like using the ropes because you can slide your grip down as you go for a gradual overload on your grip and back. Try it! .

Brought the bag and gloves down out of the garage for the first time since my last Muay Thai fight.

It felt SO GOOD to punch and kick things (I realize that sounds strange to most people).

Fun fact though, when I was doing Muay Thai, I couldn’t throw a left hook because it would kill my shoulder. Turns out, that doesn’t hurt anymore either thanks to making my joints healthy again using @functional_range_conditioning principles to guide my training.

I got to throw anything and everything I wanted today without pain. I know I say it a lot, but I’ll say it again, that pain you’re living with? That doesn’t have to be your new norm. You just have to learn the right tools to apply to your body so you can take care of your body and do the things you love without pain.

Vous avez peut-être déjà ressenti et entendu votre hanche faire une sorte de "claquement" lors d’un mouvement d’extension de la hanche (lors d’un squat ou en faisant des exercices d’abdominaux au sol de type leg raise). Ce phénomène est souvent observé chez les danseurs qui exécutent plusieurs #leverdejambe. Ce petit ‘’pop’’ est souvent non douloureux mais tout de même agaçant. .
Les causes peuvent être, dans la plupart des cas, un muscle ou un tendon qui « frotte » sur une protubérance osseuse.

🔸External dancer’s hip (accrochage latéral) : 
La bandelette iliotibiale (ITB) glisse sur le grand trochanter. .
🔸Internal dancer’s hip (accrochage antérieur) : -	Le tendon du muscle ilio-psoas glisse sur l’une des structures suivantes : le petit trochanter ou l’éminence ilio-pectinée.
-	Le tendon du droit fémoral glisse sur la tête fémorale.

🔸Une autre cause (plus rare mais plus sérieuse), serait une dysfonction intra-articulaire (par exemple : dégénérescence du cartilage ou une lésion du labrum acétabulaire). Cette dernière nécessite une consultation rapide chez un professionnel de la santé et nécessitera un traitement adapté.

Here are some exercises to help with your toe touch

Alternating Leg Raises w/fixed wall or couch- put STRAIGHT Leg on post and swing opposite leg. You should feel a stretch in the leg that is held straight on the wall. Do 2-3 sets of 15 repetitions on each leg

Banded Alternating Leg Raises- Slightly more difficult version than previous exercise. Use the band to keep leg STRAIGHT then swing other leg. I want to say again just how important it is that your leg being held by the band is straight! Do 2-3 sets of 15 repetitions on each side.

Toe touch toes up- Using something that can raise your toes (I used a rolled up yoga mat here) perform 7 toe touches with toes up. Make sure heels are together and knees are straight.

Toe touch heels up- Now reverse that and perform 7 toe touches with your heels up. Heels should be together and knees straight.

Reverse toe touches- This is one you maybe never have seen. Start this exercise with your feet shoulder width apart and your knees bent. Then attempt to straighten your knees into a toe touch, do this 7 times. On this one it does.not matter if your knees get to straight, just that you are making the attempt. If you can’t touch your toes this is a really good one because it is retraining your brain to perform this movement in a completely different way!

Do these exercises every day and twice a day if you need a lot of work on this exercise. I want you to tag me with your toe touches. Let’s get something good going for our golf games and our fitness with this time at home.

This is a simple yet challenging twist on L-Sit holds to add an element of instability. Believe me this is harder than its looks! 🥵⁣

This variation is great for increasing the instability and overall difficulty of the hanging L-sit. In order to keep stabilized you’ll not only have to engage your ENTIRE core but also have to maintain full body tension. You’ll find that after doing this for 30-40 seconds every muscle from your quads, hips, core, upper back, arms and even your grip will be completely taxed. Adding @xceler8_athletics will challenge hip stability even further as you kick out against the resistance.⁣

Believe me this is harder than its looks! 🥵⁣ ⁣ This variation is great for increasing the instability and overall difficulty of the hanging L-sit. In order to keep stabilized you’ll not only have to engage your ENTIRE core but also have to maintain full body tension. You’ll find that after doing this for 30-40 seconds every muscle from your quads, hips, core, upper back, arms and even your grip will be completely taxed. Last one! For good measure I've added some resistance to extension. These can be advanced but are easily adjusted by simply modifying the range of motion you challenge, and building up from there. Strictly speaking, this is more centered on movement at the knee, but has an isometric effect at the hip and can be very helpful situations involving #hippain and #lowbackpain . This is a great general exercise including #corestability , #hipextension and #kneeflexion .

I'm introducing some basic active resisted challenge to my posterior chain.
.
-we have little to no change in #rangeofmotion at the hip.
-we have moderate to high resistance through the hamstrings, across the lumbopelvic region and into the middle back.
-we have high rate control needed for acceleration/deceleration due to the loaded eccentric phase of movement.

🛑 So what's the point?
.
In terms of exercise based rehab, the high resistance level is great for building general tolerance to load between the knees and the rib cage along the posterior chain.

One of the odd #silverlinings to having a disease like #ehlersdanlos is that there's never a shortage of painful issues and injuries to explore. If you haven't tried using a step yet it can be a fun way to slightly alter joint angles and challenge the body with increased ranges of motion. This then increases the load on some muscle groups.

Remember that training load variation is key for muscle adaptation and growth. 
1️⃣ Alternating explosive pushup
✅ explode up and switch your hands from the step to the ground
✅ keep your core engaged and shoulders down
✅ If this is too advanced try just walking your hands up and down from the step

2️⃣ spilt squat with rear foot elevated
✅ back foot on step, use your front leg to lower body and pop back up

3️⃣ retro step
✅ Not just a regular step
✅ Slow and controlled, keeping weight on back foot
✅ tap heel without weight transfer and bring body back up to starting position

4️⃣ high plank with cross body touch
✅ come in to a high plank, core fully engaged
✅ touch opposite hand to opposite knee and return to start 🤙give these a try and stay moving

Here's another shoulder mobility drill that can be done at home with zero equipment.

I know many of these flexibility drills seem trivial and boring, but they can make a big difference in the way your shoulders feel during training and even at rest.

I can't tell you how many people I've seen doing overhead presses that simply don't have the flexibility for it.

🇬🇧 ACTIVE ROM MOBILIZATION FOR YOUR WRISTS

In yoga we do some poses that require a lot of wrist extension such as Table Top, Plank/#vashisthasana, Headstand/#adhomukhavrksasana, Wheel Pose/#urdhvadhanurasana. A common complaint of students is pain in the wrists.

Are your wrists ready for that load? Can you extend your wrists actively to 90 degrees? Frequently the solution provided is to lift passively the heal of the hand with a blanket, a block or a slanting plank. Is that the BEST long-lasting solution? 🤔

In FRC we use the CARS (Controlled Articular Rotations) to work on the ACTIVE MOBILITY of your joints.
.
➡️ INSTRUCTIONS: Support your forearm on a couple of blocks or a hard surface, hold your forearm with the other hand to avoid compensations.
.
Flex and extend your wrist, then move it laterally to the right and left. Then make circles exploring your maximum ROM. It is essential NOT to move the forearm, only the wrists.
.

En yoga hacemos algunas posturas que requieren mucha extensión de las muñecas como 4 Patas, la Tabla, el Pino o la Rueda. Muchos alumnos se quejan de dolor en las muñecas.

¿Están tus muñecas listas para soportar ese peso? ¿Puedes extenderlas a 90º de forma activa? A menudo la propuesta en una clase suele ser elevar el talón de la mano de forma pasiva con una manta, un bloque inclinado o una cuña. ¿Es esta la MEJOR solución?

En FRC usamos las RAC (Rotaciones Articulares Controladas) para trabajar la movilidad de las articulaciones de forma activa.

➡️ INSTRUCCIONES: Apoya tu antebrazo en un par de bloques o en una superficie dura, sujeta el antebrazo con la otra mano para evitar compensaciones.
.
Flexiona y extiende tu muñeca, muévela lateralmente hacia la derecha y hacia la izquierda. Después haz círculos explorando tu máximo RDM. Es indispensable no mover el antebrazo, sólo las muñecas.

🇬🇧 ACTIVE ROM MOBILIZATION FOR YOUR WRISTS In yoga we do some poses that require a lot of wrist extension such as Table Top, Plank/#vashisthasana, Headstand/#adhomukhavrksasana, Wheel Pose/#urdhvadhanurasana. A common complaint of students is pain in the wrists. . Are your wrists ready for that load? Can you extend your wrists actively to 90 degrees? Frequently the solution provided is to lift passively the heal of the hand with a blanket, a block or a slanting plank. Is that the BEST long-lasting solution? 🤔 . In FRC we use the CARS (Controlled Articular Rotations) to work on the ACTIVE MOBILITY of your joints. . ➡️ INSTRUCTIONS: Support your forearm on a couple of blocks or a hard surface, hold your forearm with the other hand to avoid compensations. . Flex and extend your wrist, then move it laterally to the right and left. Then make circles exploring your maximum ROM. It is essential NOT to move the forearm, only the wrists. . ⁣Here’s a nice longer conditioning piece (around 20 minutes) for you to try if you’ve a home gym or some equipment. It runs all the way through the following:⁣⁣

40 KB swings⁣⁣
30 calories⁣⁣
30 thrusters ⁣⁣
20 calories⁣⁣
20 renegades⁣⁣
10 calories⁣⁣
10 burpees⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The thrusters were the really tough movement for me here as I used 20kg dumbbells which would be tricky. All the other movements flowed nicely and so did the cals, but those thrusters were the stinger. If you’re constantly doing conditioning workouts where EVERY movement is hammering you and your joints I’d advise to move to something more well structured, it’ll be kinder long term. As someone who is doing a lot more walking recently I started to notice just how constricting my shoes actually are. If you're feeling the same discomfort I am after being on your feet give these fun and quick mobilizations a try. The goal is to free up the fascia and joints of the toes soo that they can spread apart, allowing you to adapt to changes in terrain while walking, running, or hiking.

CHALK CIRCLES (SWIPE FOR VIDEO)

One of my favourites for getting some rotation through the upper spine as well as mobilising your shoulder joint. This exercise would normally be done in the side lying position, but it can also be done in the four point kneeling position as I am showing. Extend one leg and tuck the toes under. 
TOP TIP: Follow the arm with your gaze to help encourage the sequential rotation of the neck and upper spine.

Repeat 5 times on each side

Please keep the words of caution in mind - start on soft surfaces and please go easy on places where there is a previous injury.
