Facial tools such as Kansa wands, Gua sha, jade rollers, Selenite wands & mask brushes, make beauty treatments a relaxing experience.
However, as a Esthetician, Ayurveda Specialist and spa owner, there are certain mandatory requirements in Ontario that require proper protocol when using specific tools in the treatment room.
Certain tools such as the ones listed, require semi- critical items. This simply means these tools MUST be cleaned with warm soapy water and then disinfected with a high level disinfectant. Why? Because...these of cross contamination. If your professional is using beauty tools without properly disinfecting them, there's always a potential to cross contaminate to other clients.
Think of it this way, if the client before you had leakage from an acne lesion or blood vessel leakage from the use of Gua sha, amongst dead skin cells, would you really want it just washed in soap in water?! 🤢 No, you would want to be sure it is being disinfected properly afterwards.
Be sure to ask your skin care professional what protocols they use before getting any services done 👌🏽 •
