Another amazing athlete transformation @s.lapolice @sspbarbellclub

Sedric and me started working together in December 2017. When I first met him he was maintaining a decent athletic shape at 177lbs. He shared with me how interested he was in bodybuilding competitions, so I took him under my wing and helped him the best I could. He’s now staying at 210-215 lbs, he’s healthy and in extremely good shape. I’m confidently saying that he will one day dominate in classic physique division. Some of the responses were focused on day habits / nutrition / recovery / being active with children / playing outdoor sports / decreasing alcohol consumption, but the common denominator was a “Never Quit” mentality 🔸

PROTEIN // Probably the most emphasised macro of them all. TBH all are equally important, without one, we really wouldn’t function OPTIMALLY.

So how much is enough and how much is too much? The recommended intake of protein is 0.84g per kg of body weight for adult males and 0.64g per kg of body weight for adult females. Protein intake also depends on the individual, their goals and training.

Aim for 20 - 25g of protein that contains 2-3g of the amino acid LEUCINE (these are the best sources of protein for our bodies to absorb). Leucine is found highest in animal products so if you’re vego/vegan then you might need more. Spreading protein throughout the day (every 3 - 4 hours), is the ideal way to reach your intake. In other words, don’t go eating a low-protein breakfast, moderate protein rich lunch and high protein dinner. Spread it out throughout the day starting with breakfast, snacks, lunch and finishing with dinner. Add an evening snack too if you wish.

Today’s lunch brought to you by last nights dinner + meal prep. Turkey veggie meatballs, roasted sweet tater, sautéed zucchini on a bed of balsamic greens. A question I get asked, “How do you eat healthy and not reach for processed/junk food all the time?” .
3 things I preach: 
1. Plan and prep in advance: I plan dinners for the week prior to the start, enough for lunch leftovers the next day or have a plan Incase there are none (hello smoothies/omelettes), I stick to the same breakfast during the week (one less thing to think about), and I prep what is needed that I won’t have time to get to. 
2. Don’t keep “temptations” in the house: if you know you can’t keep it in your pants around sugary/highly processed foods, then don’t put it in front of you to see every day. I keep healthy snack alternatives on hand I won’t go over board on, or I make/go out to get treats when I want them. 
3. Focus on building your plate/not what you “shouldn’t eat”: I think of each meal  in macro/micronutrients. I check for where is my protein, complex carbohydrates, veggies, and fat coming from.

New low weigh in! Quick question though...what’s everyone’s opinion on dudes wearing only leggings. I did today for the first time at the gym and I don’t think I can ever go back to wearing regular pants EVER. And I don’t know the rules about these things but am I supposed to wear underwear with these errr. 🤷🏻‍♂️
