1) 香港: HKU SPACE 與英國University of Ulster合辦的課程 (1年part-time PgD in Nutrition → 1年PgD in Dietetics)
Recently, a few nutrition students asked me about what courses they need to take to become a registered dietitian. I hope the flowchart could help answering this question.
I simply listed out what I know - the curriculum in Hong Kong, US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, as I am not familiar with Canadian courses.
If you have finished your Bachelor in Nutrition, you could choose studying in:
1) Hong Kong: The course ran by HKU SPACE with the affiliation with UK University of Ulster, including first year PgD Nutrition & the second year PgD Dietetics.
CC like: first year is a part-time study, so CC could do a fulltime work while studying. Second year includes a 7-month clinical placement, where CC has enough time to familiar with the computer system at public hospital and meet senior dietitians.
But: tuition fee is expensive. There is a chance not getting into second year, and may not able to finish placement.
CC like: comparatively easy to get into and complete the course. Placement includes community, clinical and food service management.
But: tuition fee + accommodation are expensive. Clinical placement might only last for 1 month. Might have cultural and language barrier, difficult to build rapport with patient. Not easy to get an offer from public hospital. .
