“My three-year-old daughter found this tiny jumping spider walking along our living room’s window sill. She wanted me to photograph it (and so did I, of course). I gently coaxed the spider onto a piece of paper so I could relocate it onto our coffee table where it would be easier to shoot. I then let the spider climb onto a multicolored faux fur pom-pom that provided a comfortable space for the spider and a multi-colored scene for my shot. I captured the shot with my OM-D E-M1 Mark II and 60mm F2.8 Macro, outfitted with a Raynox DCR-250 conversion lens. To light the scene, I used an FL-700WR flash that was mounted to my camera’s hot shoe and diffused the flash with a homemade softbox diffuser. Working at 1:1 and F13, I was able to keep the spiders eyes and palps in focus while achieving a soft pastel background.” - Olympus Senior Creative Manager @innis2winnis

“Did you know Southern California hosts one of the largest dolphin populations in the world? With various species roaming the waters you are almost guaranteed to see some out of Dana Point. Jumping on and off boats for the last 2 years, these were some of the best water conditions I've ever had. Luckily, the insane burst mode ability of the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, coupled with my 12-40mm were the perfect remedy to capture these dolphins playing alongside the boat. Unreal experience.” - @chrisroams

“Get low for a different feeling in an image. It’s easy to get stuck shooting from your level with portraiture. Don’t be afraid to get low or high to add interest to your composition. The articulating screen on my E-M1X makes it super easy to get low without having to lay on the ground. We braved a thunderstorm to grab these shots in less than 10 minutes. These ominous clouds make it so worth it though.” - @traciejeanphoto

“Photographing landscapes in the dark is very difficult. That’s why I often photograph the landscape during Blue Hour and photograph the Milky Way later on at night. Also for shots like this, a good perspective deep down on the ground is worth gold. ” - @fabio_crudele_photography

If you’re photographing Independence Day #fireworks, location is key. Try to shoot fireworks so that they are downwind from your position. If you are downwind of the fireworks, you may lose visibility because of smoke. Get more fireworks tips, and share your tips in the comments below: http://olym.ps/FireworksTips

“Shooting time-lapses with the E-M1X is so much fun, and the results speak for themselves. When determining the number of frames and interval length, the camera makes it easy by letting you know how long it will be. Overestimate the # of frames - it’s simple to stop sooner if needed. Setting the camera in Aperture priority will allow it to adjust your shutter speed during changing light conditions, and use a slight minus Exposure Compensation to avoid blown out highlights. Either allow the camera to make the movie itself, or use Olympus Workspace to further customize your time-lapse.” - @mattseussphoto
