I’ve never been shy with my body or my love for it. Don’t mistake this- I have not always loved my body the way I do now, or the way I should. But we are women, and were taught to be afraid, to be ashamed, to be used, to be abused.
Can we spit in the face of every entitled man who thinks we want their approval: we don’t. Or worse, any and every man who is so sure that we’d care for any of their time: please leave us the fuck alone.
Can we deny the notion that anyone else can determine our worth, can assure us, can save us? I am my Queen, I am all I need, and I am in love myself beyond needing anyone else to be.
I want you to know that you’re safe here, I want you to leave me knowing yourself so deeply that you’ll never again believe the lies they’ve been telling us.
It’s not your fault for believing them, and it’s not your fault to fear the shame and conviction that comes with being proud of your beautiful body. It’s only natural that we hide our bodies, that we go everywhere in pairs and sometimes we just call someone who will answer so that it doesn’t have to feel like we’re braving this world alone. This world that wants to rob us of our confidence, our dignity, our selves.
It is time that we take back our right to our sexuality.
