This is a rendering!
It’s impressively close to the reality of our shop, and one of the many wonders of the talented @angelofernandes! A hilarious young man with a great talent who I discovered on @instagram’s explore feed!
It is a rarity that I ever find something I’m interested in there, let alone someone I’d follow and then go on to hire for a monumental task like building out this rendering of our shop!
But that isn’t the crazy part...
Shortly after contacting him, he messaged - almost at a loss for words - he had just watched @ellemaywatson and I’s testimony on the destructive nature of pornography.
Angel mentioned to me that he had started the first and currently only NGO in Portugal that supports boys and men that have been sexually abused. Recently, he wrote to me with a sad frustration that their group had received a bit of media attention, and that while normally that would be a good thing, it brought on a lot of hateful comments... “I wish I could be lucky enough to be raped” wrote one responder, a majority of the comments were against the victims, making fun of them.
This has such a detrimental impact on people’s (especially men’s) ability to speak up, out of fear of not being taken seriously.
A very real problem in the world, is that men are often taught to be the strength without ever being allowed the space to share their hurt, struggle or abuse. This is only further demeaned by comments in the media.
Nearly all sexual abusers are male, and an overwhelming percentage of them are themselves survivors of sexual abuse.
The cycle needs to be broken somewhere that instead of normalising their actions (such is done in mainstream porn culture as well as in Hollywood) they need to be allowed to share their hurt so as to overcome it, instead of repeating the problems they themselves once faced.
Angel and his organisation have currently helped over 250 men and boys seek help from their trauma, and so that they can move forward and lead - as true men do, a life of vulnerability and the pursuit of a better community.
Great job, Angel, your an honour to men everywhere.
Whatever your thoughts are, I hope you feel the importance of just how much your spirit strives to see this world and all it has to offer.
Travelling isn’t just about the stories you live out, but it’s about the ones you’re told, pass on, and hold dear.
We’re meant to be a community of humanity that exists beyond the individual, beyond language and only our thoughts - sure as they can be in our minds. There is more of this world to see and every turn it humbles you even in the most unexpected ways. We laugh about it, or maybe even worry a little, but the truth is we’re all part of an adventure right now the outcome of which we have no idea about.
What’s meant to come will come, so when you can, if you can, try with all your strength to go places you’ve never been. The stories waiting for you might just change the world one day.

Another mini look book into the history of our travels and brand!
This first shot of Paris is taken on 35mm Kodak Portra... something I am really pleased to announce we will be stocking in our shop as official retailers of @kodak goods! For anyone who knows me personally - this is a pretty big deal!
We’re excited to offer it online too! Thanks to everyone who has been supporting our shop through your purchases and patience as of late! Our next batch of shirts arrives August 20th! And will be shipping next day!!
Packaging up some of our recent orders to be shipped out! It has been a strenuous time on small businesses as shipping times have far exceeded what we’re used to, both in production and receiving goods! But we’re excited to say that we’re finally getting a knack for the “over-prepared” part of the process, and are trying to over order size and quantities so that we don’t run out anytime soon! Our next batch of shirts, and totes comes on the 20th of August!
We’ve sent out two camera rifles this week and are packaging a third now! It’s really such a blessing to have so much support in the vintage aspect of what we do, as well as the tools and tutorials!
What’s something you’d like to see more of? We are releasing a limited set of prints as well in the nearer future! As well as a staple clothing line of prices Elle and I have designed! But we’d love to hear your feedback on what you’d like to see more of from us! We are working on increased shipping speeds while maintaining the same $5 dollar flat rate shipping!
Thanks for all of your feedback and help!

I’m thinking of Lebanon today.
I’m thinking a lot of the heaviness there seems to be in the world too. And how we all feel like spectators to the crisis that do and don’t involve us. I can’t help but feel the empathy of the unheard lives tangled and hurting in situations they didn’t ask to be in.
I’ve written for years about the tragedy of unforeseen circumstance and the impact it has on us, and for years I’ve been told to keep quiet and cheer up - not always, but often enough that it irks me.
Happiness is a grand trait not meant to be lost on us, but has it’s appropriate times as well. The more time I spend at my desk, I find little things to be frustrated with, and wonder what moments I’ve spent so much energy on, that would soon be forgotten if I myself was thrown in the position so many faced today.
What anger and sorrows would be lost, if I had a few moments to remember the joy, and to regret doing wrong? What would my life look like if constantly, without a headline, I was holding myself that near to the end. Would I be considered too heavy, too serious?
I find that the best in all of us comes when we are the least comfortable. And that the convenience of things makes us upset when they become insufferable, when the loading time is too long, or a pencil line drawn again and again is still incorrect...
The many things that plague us on a daily level, seem to fade away entirely in the face of devastation. But people should not call on these moments to remind themselves of their own finite humanity, but practice it as often and as full as can be done.
Life was never guaranteed, and only those who have afforded time, can scoff at their own demise. Worry over nothing is a trait given to few, and too many.
My thoughts and prayers with those struggling today.

For those who don’t know, one thing we have tried to be more active on in the last two years is sharing our tutorials which focus on many of the frequently asked questions both Elle and I get. To date, we have a Photography, Styling, Branding, and Drawing course! Nearly every aspect of 1924 is documented here, shot from the UK, to France, To Australia!
We have worked hard to make all of these as accessible as they are educational, and to our hope - inspirational!
Our latest tutorial on Drawing was an incredible project we got to work on with @ryanjones, inspired by Wes Anderson and the Coen Brothers films, this little snippet I edited and styled to be close to our version of that character of work, which I’ve always felt close to!
Over 3 hours long at $50, it’s available at 1924.us!
